Lietuvos Ministras Pirmininkas Gediminas Kirkilas, viešintis Rygoje, šiandien dalyvavo Baltijos jūros regiono verslo forume.

Kalbėdamas šiame forume  Gediminas Kirkilas akcentavo, kad Baltijos jūros regionas šiandien susiduria su naujais ekonominės globalizacijos iššūkiais. Šiomis aplinkybėmis  reikėtų pasinaudoti savo tradiciniais ryšiais, kad užtikrintume naujas verslo galimybes Baltijos jūros regione ir taptume varančiąja jėga didesniam ekonominiam bendradarbiavimui.

Pasak Premjero, mums visiems naudinga glaudžiau bendradarbiauti Baltijos jūros regione; tai ypač svarbu Lietuvai, nes regiono valstybės yra pagrindinės Lietuvos prekybos ir investavimo partnerės. Lietuvos prekyba su Baltijos jūros regiono valstybėmis sudaro 63 proc. visos Lietuvos prekybos. Be to, devynios iš Baltijos jūros regiono valstybių narių yra dešimties pagrindinių užsienio investuotojų Lietuvoje sąraše.

Kalbėdamas apie Baltijos jūros regiono ateitį, Gediminas Kirkilas  pabrėžė, kad reikia gilinti integraciją regione. Gedimino Kirkilo nuomone, nemažiau svarbūs yra bendri veiksmai ir pastangos gerinant verslo klimatą regione, kuris padėtų pritraukti daugiau investicijų ir suaktyvintų prekybą. Rengiant ir vykdant abipusiai naudingus projektus reikėtų pasinaudoti Baltijos jūros valstybių tarybos ir kitais regioniniais formatais, tačiau iniciatyvas turėtų kelti ir verslo sektorius, ne tik valstybės institucijos. Dėl šios priežasties reikia aktyviai siekti glaudesnio bendradarbiavimo tarp viešojo ir privataus sektorių.

Taip pat  Ministras Pirmininkas pabrėžė, jog būtina palaikyti regiono ekonominio vystymosi dinamiškumą, verslui siūlant pačias palankiausias sąlygas. Šiuo tikslu reikia siekti aktyvesnio kaimyninių šalių (pvz. Baltarusijos) bendradarbiavimo su Baltijos jūros valstybėmis.
